New Volunteer Accommodation Coming Soon

The new property will provide vets’ accommodation right next door to Mbwa Wa Africa Animal Rescue

Thanks to the generosity of our incredible supporters, we are delighted to announce that we have just signed the purchase deeds for a new property in the Arusha Region of Tanzania!

The property - currently composed of a three-bedroom house set in an acre of land next to the Gongo Centre - will provide comfortable, private accommodation for the volunteer vet teams who travel to Mbwa Wa Africa Animal Rescue to work on the front line of our life-saving anti-rabies campaigns.

A way to say ‘thank you’

Our volunteer vets work long, tough days, directly exposed to the risk of rabies and often carrying out spay and neuter operations by head torch until well into the night. The new home will offer a peaceful haven, up close with nature and with local monkeys for company - perfect for rest, recuperation and unwinding at the end of each day, feeling recharged and ready for the next day’s load of campaign work.

The new property is lush and green

Tanzanian law forbids foreigners from owning property, so we have gifted the deeds of the new house and land to our sister charity, Mbwa Wa Africa Animal Rescue, who will manage it on our behalf.

A major fundraising opportunity

It will come as no surprise that our Founder, Phyllis Hutchison, has some big plans up her sleeve for the new property!

She told us;

“The land is beautiful and lush. The location is superb. As soon as we learned that this property was available for sale, I knew this was too good an opportunity to miss: I could already see the potential! This property is ideal for our volunteer vets stay during our anti-rabies campaigns and we have some big plans in store.... Watch this space!”

The land is rich and fertile, full of banana trees

There are many ways you can help the fight to end rabies in Tanzania:
